Problem: “Salesforce can’t connect to Tackle”

While installing your Tackle for Salesforce integration, during the step to connect your Tackle account to Salesforce, you see an error message that reads, “Salesforce can’t connect to Tackle.” As a result, the app will not function, and no Tackle data or features are available in Salesforce.

Solution: Pre-authorize Admin-Enabled users in your app configuration

This problem is most likely caused by an error during your integration installation. Have your Salesforce Admin repeat our installation steps Pre-Authorize your Admin users for access to your Tackle app.

Solution: Adjust your API Access Control settings

This issue can also result from a setting in your Salesforce API Access Control settings titled “For admin-approved users, limit API access only to allowlisted connected apps”.

For more information about this setting, see Salesforce’s guide Restrict Access to APIs with Connected Apps🔗.

  1. Ask your Salesforce Admin to go to Setup > Quick Find > Search for and select “API Access Control” > Edit.

  2. Uncheck the checkbox titled “For admin-approved users, limit API access to only allowlisted connected apps”.

  3. Navigate to Manage Connected Apps.

  4. Set the permitted users setting for the “Tackle for Salesforce” connected app to “Admin approved users are pre-authorized”.

  5. Click Save, then return to the Opportunity page and verify that the Tackle widget still loads correctly.

  6. Return to your API Access Control settings and re-check the checkbox titled “For admin-approved users, limit API access to only allowlisted connected apps”.

Problem: I receive a 404 error when connecting Tackle to Salesforce

This is an uncommon error that can arise if your Salesforce Admin previously connected to Tackle with incorrect permissions.

Solution: Contact Tackle Support

Get in touch with our support team at [email protected] and describe your problem, and request an escalation.

As part of our resolution steps, our team will ask which user profile you use in Salesforce. If you use the ‘Standard User’ profile, then it includes the correct permissions. Otherwise, you will need to manually add a permission to get your integration to function correctly.

Problem: “The Tackle app is installed, but not connected to Tackle”

The Tackle widget on your Opportunity page displays an error message that reads, “The Tackle app is installed, but not connected to Tackle”. As a result, you can’t access any other buttons or features in the Tackle widget, and no new Tackle data is flowing to Salesforce.

Solution: Ask your Salesforce Admin to complete the connection to Tackle

Login as the Integration User. Then, visit the “Setup” page in the “Tackle for Salesforce” app. Click on the “Connect to Salesforce” button on this page to initiate the connection flow within Tackle.

Problem: I can’t view the Tackle widget on the Opportunity page

The Tackle for Salesforce integration includes a new custom widget to access Tackle features on your Salesforce Opportunity page. If you can’t access this widget, check to see if other members of your team are able to. This can indicate one of a few different solutions.

Solution: Ask your Salesforce Admin for Tackle - All Users permissions

As part of the Tackle for Salesforce installation steps, your Salesforce administrator provisioned access to Tackle for users on your team. If other members of your team are able to use the Tackle widget but you can’t, you may have been accidentally left off this list.

Have your Salesforce Admin repeat our installation steps Choose which Salesforce users you want to use Tackle and make sure to include you this time!

Solution: Make sure your Tackle widget was added to the Opportunity page

If nobody on your team can access the Tackle widget, your Salesforce administrator may not have added the Tackle widget to the Opportunity page at all. Have your Salesforce Admin repeat our installation steps Add the Tackle Widget to your Opportunity Lightning Record page.

Problem: “Issue connecting to Tackle”

While attempting to use the Tackle for Salesforce App, you see an error message titled “Issue connecting to Tackle”. As a result, the app will not function, and no Tackle data or features are available in Salesforce.

An error message that reads "Issue connecting to Tackle. There was an issue connecting to Tackle. Please try again." This message is followed by a long error code.

Solution: Notify Tackle support and refresh your browser window

The above error message is most likely caused by a server error from Tackle.

Copy the ID on the bottom of the screen and send it to Tackle support at [email protected]. This will allow us to investigate the root cause of the issue.

Next, refresh your browser window. This often resolves the issue. If not, our friendly support team will get in touch to help you out.

Problem: My flows and automations from the legacy Tackle - Salesforce app no longer work

If you previously used our legacy Tackle - Salesforce app, the Tackle for Salesforce app is intended to replace that experience completely.

Customers are required to sever their connection to the legacy app after connecting Tackle for Salesforce in production. These two apps should not be installed in the same production instance, as that may cause problems.

Additionally, any automations, flows, reports, and other customizations you built upon the new Tackle for Salesforce app will no longer work with the new version.

Solution: Follow our upgrade guide to remove your legacy integration

To upgrade to the latest Tackle for Salesforce app, you need to completely remove your legacy Tackle - Salesforce integration, as well as any customizations you built on top of it. Follow our guide Tackle for Salesforce — Upgrade from a legacy version to upgrade safely and learn how to replace the functionality you enjoyed from your previous app.
