When are payments disbursed from metering submissions?
Disbursements from metering charges occur on the same schedule as regular payments. This is a variable based on the payment terms the buyer has with AWS. Most often, these are Net30 terms, but can range from 60 to 90 days.
According to AWS, “All usage is calculated monthly and billed monthly using the same mechanism as existing AWS Marketplace software.”
How will we know when and how much to meter our customers?
It is up to you to implement a process to facilitate the tracking of usage and regular submission of usage charges. As a best practice, usage charges should either be submitted regularly as they occur, or aggregated and submitted on a specific day of the month.
How can the metering process be automated?
Tackle provides an API for the submission of metering charges programmatically. Submit Usage Data through the Tackle API🔗.
Can metering records be scheduled for a customer contract?
Tackle Metering allows you to set a scheduled_at value that determines when Tackle submits the record. Usage charges without a scheduled_at value will be submitted to AWS by Tackle immediately upon receipt.
What does the Start Time field specify?
This Start Time field allows you to specify when a particular metering record should start, regardless of the record’s submission time. This allows you to back-date when the metering has begun.
If you do not know the exact start time (for example, if you meter monthly), enter the current time in the Start Time field.
How far can the Start Time field be back-dated?
The Start Time field can be. back-dated up to 6 hours.
How do we know our metering records have been submitted to the marketplace?
Look for a green checkmark next to the submitted usage in the Tackle Platform.
For submission failures, the UI will show a red x and indicate the reason for the failure.
If you are using the Tackle Metering API, you may also use the API to confirm the status of the records.
