Setting up a Salesforce sandbox and Tackle test account will enable you to test your Salesforce workflows from end-to-end in a sandbox environment.

Before you begin

You will need the following roles to help you:

  • Salesforce Admin

  • Tackle Admin (this may be the same person)

Note

If you are not using the Tackle Salesforce integration or testing in a Salesforce sandbox environment, skip this step.

Set up your Tackle test account

To help you get started with these new changes in your Tackle integration, we have already set up a test account within Tackle that you can use to test these changes first before moving to production.

You can use your Tackle test account to fully test your Tackle integration in your Salesforce sandbox. This test account will be using the new data model established by AWS and will give you the ability to validate that your data is flowing as intended before pushing the changes to production. You can send test co-sell opportunities from Tackle and receive test data back, as well as see what a new cloud originated opportunity will look like.

Before starting the steps to access your Tackle test account, watch this video guide to familiarize yourself with the expected process.

To access your Tackle test account:

  1. Log into the Tackle Platform.

  2. In the left side navigation, above your user information, you will see what Tackle environment you are currently in. The default account that you will always log into is Production.

  3. Click on the Tackle environment area of the side navigation. You will then see a list of all of the environments that exist for your Tackle Platform account. Select the “Test” environment.

  4. Your Tackle account will then switch over to the test environment. Remember that this is a copy of your production account and is meant for testing purposes only. Anything that you do here will not be reflected in your normal Tackle account and will not be synced with the cloud provider.

  5. To set yourself up for testing, you will have to do add your solutions to Tackle one more time, this time in the Tackle test account. Follow the steps in the Add your Solutions to ACE article to do so, but be sure to do it in this Tackle test account so that testing v14 will work as expected.

  6. Once your solutions are added, you are done here for now. But leave this window open - you will have to come back over to this test account to link your Salesforce sandbox after you set that up.

Linking your Salesforce sandbox to your Tackle test account

Earlier, we set up a Tackle test account for you to use to see the changes in Tackle. To test the new Salesforce package (1.43 or newer) in a sandbox environment, you will need to access your Tackle test account and connect that to your Salesforce sandbox.

Before starting the steps below, watch this video guide to familiarize yourself with the expected process.

To connect your Salesforce sandbox environment to your Tackle test account:

  1. Navigate back to your Tackle test account. If you need a reminder of how to get there, see the steps in the previous section.

  2. Log into your Salesforce sandbox account.

  3. Verify that you are in your Tackle test environment and complete the "Connect Tackle and Salesforce" section below.
Warning: Make sure that you are only connecting your Salesforce sandbox to your Tackle test account.

Connect Tackle and Salesforce

This is a required step to integrate Tackle with your Salesforce instance. This step must be completed by the Tackle Administrator for your company. The Salesforce client id and secret will not be available to standard Tackle Users.

  1. In the Tackle Setup Assistant, click Start under System Connections.

Shows step one of Tackle Setup Assistant "System Connections"
  2. Follow the link to the Tackle Salesforce Integration🔗, (in the Tackle application, click Integrations > Configure for the Salesforce integration). Copy and paste the Client ID and Secret you see there, from Tackle into the two fields you see when you expand System Connections in the Tackle Setup Assistant. Click Connect.

Image shows the Salesforce configuration page in Tackle with Client ID and Secret.

  3. When the connection is successful, click Next.

  4. Click Authorize to grant Tackle access to your Salesforce instance. In the pop-up, click Allow. Click Finish. Now Salesforce and Tackle are connected.

  5. If you connect your Salesforce production account to your Tackle test account, or your Salesforce sandbox to your Tackle production account, this will result in bad data and test opportunities potentially being submitted to ACE.
