To help you sell in AWS Marketplace, Tackle needs to establish a data connection with your AWS account. This is a required step before using other Tackle features with AWS — such as offers and co-sell — and in most cases, this will be one of the very first actions you take in your Tackle account.

Determine the right connection steps for your Tackle account

Your steps for connecting Tackle and AWS are different depending on some settings in your Tackle account.

To figure out which article to follow, sign in to your Tackle account and click Integrations in the left menu. If you see a single integration card for AWS, follow the steps in this article. If you see separate integration cards for AWS Marketplace and AWS co-sell, check out our article Connect a Tackle account to AWS (legacy) instead.

Before you connect

Before you can connect your Tackle account to AWS Marketplace, make sure you’ve set up your AWS account and completed the required forms and registration steps:

Set up your AWS seller account

  1. Choose an AWS account to connect to Tackle. This account will be used when publishing your listings and managing sales disbursements. We recommend creating a brand new account🔗 linked to your master AWS account in order to isolate your production and development accounts from your Tackle managed listings.

  2. Sign in to the AWS account you chose in step 1, then review your account permissions🔗 and give your account the following permissions if it doesn't already have them:

    • Create roles

    • Create stacks, also known as "CloudFormation Templates".

    • Configure financial services.

Important: If you have already set up a listing with AWS, you have completed this step.

  3. Click the following links to complete these five required forms from AWS:

Link your Partner Central account to Marketplace (Co-sell only)

Important

If you use AWS IAM Identity Center (formerly AWS Single Sign-On) to sign in to your AWS Marketplace account, you must sign in to your AWS Marketplace account with administrator privileges first, before performing the rest of these instructions. Then, open a new browser tab and proceed with the steps below.

  1. Sign in to AWS Partner Central🔗 with an Alliance Lead or Cloud Admin role.

  2. In the Account Linking section on the homepage, click Link Account.

  3. Go to Account Linking, and then select Link Account again.

Note: This is separate from the similar action you took in step 2.

  4. Select IAM user, and then enter the AWS Account ID for your AWS Marketplace account.

  5. Click Next, and then sign in to the AWS account.

  6. Click Allow to authorize the connection between your AWS Partner Central and AWS Marketplace accounts.

For more information, see AWS documentation🔗 in Partner Central.

Connect a new Tackle account to AWS

It’s very easy to connect your Tackle and AWS accounts — once your AWS account is ready, you can connect just about everything in one click.

  1. After you finish all the steps in the Before you Connect section of this guide, sign in to your AWS Marketplace account as an administrator.

  2. In another browser tab, sign in to Tackle as an Administrator or a custom role with Administrator privileges.

  3. In the Tackle left menu, click Integrations. Find the AWS integration card, then click Configure.

  4. In Step 1: Connect to AWS, review the steps in the Marketplace operations and Co-sell operations sections to make sure you’ve finished setting up and connecting your AWS accounts.

  5. Click Connect to open your AWS console, then click the link for your AWS session or account. If you have more than one, choose the session you want to connect to Tackle.

  6. In the Capabilities and transforms section, check all the checkboxes to acknowledge how this CloudFormation Template can affect your AWS account. When you’re finished, click Connect. Your Tackle account will go to work in the background connecting to AWS.

    • If Tackle encounters any errors while trying to connect, you’ll see an error bar at the top of your window. Follow the instructions in the error bar to resolve your error, then click Connect to try again. If the connection fails again, contact Tackle support at [email protected].

    • Once Tackle successfully connects, you’ll see a green notification letting you know you’re connected.

  7. In Step 2: Enroll in SDDS to activate your AWS connection, click “Marketplace Management Data Feed Configuration Form”🔗 to open a form to enroll in the AWS Seller Deliver Data Feed Service (SDDS).

  8. In Tackle, click the copy button at the right of the S3 ARN text box to copy the value in that textbox to your clipboard. Then, return to your Marketplace Management Data Feed Configuration Form and paste that value into your form.

  9. Copy and paste the values in the KMS key ARN and SNS topic ARN textboxes into your Marketplace Management Data Feed Configuration Form as well.

  10. Complete the rest of your Marketplace Management Data Feed Configuration Form. When you’re finished, click Submit.

  11. Return to Tackle and click Finish connecting.
