Selling Multiple Products Through a Reseller: Multi-Product Solutions and Offer Sets on AWS Marketplace FAQs

Written by Michael Crane

About the feature

What is the difference between a multi-product solution and an offer set?

A multi-product solution is an unpriced listing page for discovery and lead generation. An offer set is the actual transaction, a group of 2 to 7 private offers a buyer accepts at once. You can create an offer set without a solution listing.

How many products can go in one offer set?

Between 2 and 7. One offer per product.

Which product types are eligible?

SaaS, server (AMI), containers, professional services, and AI or ML products, per AWS's launch. Products can come from one seller or several.

What cannot go in an offer set?

Public offers, amendment or replacement offers, and free-trial offers. All offers in a set must target the same buyer account, use the same currency, and share the same expiration date.

Does the buyer get one contract or several?

Several. The buyer accepts once, but each product produces its own agreement, so they can renew, change, or cancel each product independently.

Who is the seller of record?

Whoever assembles the offer set and owns the buyer relationship. In a reseller deal, that is the reseller.

About the reseller model

Why do I need a separate authorization for each product?

Because an offer set holds one offer per product, and each offer traces to its own resale authorization. There is no single action that authorizes a whole catalog at once today.

Do I build the offer set, or does the reseller?

The reseller. You authorize each product for resale by creating a partner offer in Tackle. The reseller creates their offers from those authorizations and assembles the offer set.

How do I get paid?

You receive the wholesale price you set on each product. The reseller adds their markup and keeps the margin. AWS calculates listing fees per product.

Can I control the terms a reseller sells my product on?

Yes, to a point. You set the wholesale price on each resale authorization, and you can cap the reseller's markup, restrict the geographies they sell into, limit how long the authorization stays valid, and revoke it. What is not confirmed today is a dedicated control that blocks a reseller from placing your product into an offer set specifically. Set that expectation with your reseller directly for now, and check current AWS documentation.

About Tackle

What does Tackle handle in this flow?

You create and track the resale authorizations (partner offers) in Tackle, one per product, the same way you manage any other AWS offer. The reseller creates their offers and assembles the offer set on their side.

How do I track the deal from my side?

Once the reseller creates each offer, Tackle populates the resulting Offer ID onto your partner offer, so you can see the linkage. After the buyer accepts, Tackle emails you bookable artifacts.

What about a deal with a distributor in the middle (ISV to distributor to reseller to buyer)?

That is a four-party structure, which is outside what an offer set covers. If you have a distributor-led deal, talk to your Tackle contact about the right path.
