Register eligible Microsoft co-sell referrals in Tackle after they close as Won, track registration status, and resubmit if Microsoft needs attention.

After a Microsoft co-sell referral is accepted and later closed as Won, you can register the deal in Tackle. Registration is how Microsoft records an eligible Azure IP Co-sell win. Tackle shows whether a referral is ready, walks you through the Register deal panel, and lets you fix a registration if Microsoft needs attention.

This article is for users who manage Microsoft co-sell referrals in Tackle

In this article:

Before you get started

Complete Co-Sell onboarding in Tackle > Account settings > Co-Sell, and connect Microsoft Partner Center. Then go to Co-Sell and select Microsoft Partner Center.

Deal registration is available only for Microsoft co-sell referrals that meet Azure IP Co-sell criteria. For the full Microsoft requirements, see Microsoft Azure IP Co-sell requirements checklist.

Note

You have 60 days from the contract signed date to register a deal. Contract end date is required for non-perpetual contracts only.

Important: Microsoft annual deal registration pause

Microsoft temporarily closes deal registration in Partner Center each year during their fiscal year-end accounting period. During this time, you cannot submit new deal registrations. Attempting to submit returns: "Deal Registration functionality is currently closed to accommodate Microsoft end of year accounting."

When it occurs: Annually, typically late June through mid-July. For FY2026, registration is unavailable until July 14, 2026, 11:30 AM PDT.

What to do: Prepare contract dates and registration details in advance. When registration reopens, submit promptly. Deals must still meet Microsoft eligibility requirements and timelines at the time of submission. For more information, see Microsoft's FY26 PRACR close deadlines announcement.

Understand registration status

Each Microsoft referral includes a Registration status chip in the referral header, next to Status and Substatus

Registration status

What it means

What you can do

Not eligible

The referral does not yet meet Azure IP Co-sell registration criteria.

Open Deal registration readiness and View deal eligibility criteria. Update the referral until the unmet items are resolved.

Eligible

The referral meets registration criteria. You still need to close it as won before you can submit.

Continue the co-sell. When you are ready, click Close won.

Pending

The registration was submitted and Microsoft is reviewing it.

Wait for Microsoft. You do not need to resubmit unless the status changes to Needs Attention.

Needs Attention

Microsoft did not accept the registration as submitted.

Click Edit registration, fix the details, and submit again.

Approved

Microsoft accepted the deal registration.

Review Registration details. No further registration action is required

Note

Registration status is separate from referral Status and Substatus. A referral can be Active / Accepted and still Not eligible or Eligible for registration. You can register only after the referral is Closed with substatus Won.

Check deal registration readiness

Open the referral. The Deal registration readiness card on the right shows how close the deal is to registration and the next action.

  1. In Tackle, go to Co-Sell.

  2. Select Microsoft Partner Center.

  3. Open the referral.

  4. Review Registration status in the header and the Deal registration readiness card.

Not eligible

When the status is Not eligible, the card shows You're almost there! Tackle still needs the deal to meet Azure IP Co-sell registration criteria.

  1. Click View deal eligibility criteria.

  2. Review each item in Eligibility criteria. Unmet items appear with an error icon; met items appear with a checkmark.

  3. Update the referral so unmet criteria can pass, then return to the card.

Tackle may check criteria such as:

  • Partner is eligible for deal registration

  • Deal type is Co-sell

  • Customer is managed by Microsoft

  • Solution is IP Co-sell eligible

  • Value is greater than 25,000 USD

  • Microsoft referral status is Accepted

The exact list depends on the referral. Use the Eligibility criteria panel as the source of truth for that deal.

Tip

From Eligibility criteria, click Learn more about deal registration or see Microsoft Azure IP Co-sell requirements checklist.

Eligible, pending deal close

When the status is Eligible and the referral is still open, the card shows Eligible, pending deal close.

The deal is eligible for deal registration. After the status changes to Closed and the substatus is Won, you can register within 60 days of the contract signed date.

When you are ready to close:

  1. Click Close won.

  2. Confirm the close.

  3. Return to Deal registration readiness. The card updates to It's time to register!

To close a referral as won, lost, or error, see Close Microsoft co-sell referrals in Tackle.

The Deal registration readiness card shows It's time to register! and confirms the deal meets Azure IP Co-sell registration criteria.

Register a Microsoft deal

  1. Open the closed won referral.

  2. In Deal registration readiness, click Register now.
    The Register deal panel opens.

Fix a registration that needs attention

If Microsoft cannot accept the registration, Registration status changes to Needs Attention. The Deal registration readiness card shows Registration needs attention.

The deal registration was not submitted successfully. Review the Microsoft response, update the registration details, and submit again.

  1. Open the referral.

  2. In Deal registration readiness, click Edit registration.

  3. The Edit registration panel opens with the same Registration details fields.

  4. Fix the highlighted fields. Tackle shows the Microsoft error at the top of the panel.

  5. Click Register.

Example: If the deal was transacted through Microsoft Marketplace, Tackle may show: Marketplace transaction date is required when the deal was transacted through Microsoft Marketplace. Add the missing date and register again.

Warning

Do not ignore Needs Attention. The 60-day window from the contract signed date still applies. Fix the details and resubmit before the window closes.

Review approved registration details

When Registration status is Approved, Tackle replaces the readiness card with Registration details.

Approved details include:

  • Contract start date

  • Contract end date

  • Contract signed date

You can still review Customer Details and Deal Details. No further registration action is required.
