In Tackle, amended offers are accepted offers that you've revised to update the original terms of an existing agreement or renew an agreement without having to collect or enter the same information. For AWS Marketplace private offers, you can amend an accepted offer to create agreement-based offer (ABO) in the cloud marketplace.
Leverage amended offers to:
Upsell or expand existing contracts in Tackle
Simplify the updating process, making your business more efficient
Speed up the opportunity to close by amending an offer within hours rather than days
How amended offers work in Tackle
You can take a previously accepted offer and use that as a base to create a new private offer for a buyer who wants to renew or upgrade a product. Tackle automatically fills in the details from the original offer, including outstanding invoices. You can edit the prefilled data or information as needed. By matching amended offers to their corresponding Tackle offers, you simplify the process of revenue reconciliation and reduce the time it takes to execute and update a contract.
Amend offers when you:
Have an existing agreement with a buyer and the buyer wants to renew or upgrade the product
Can't create a separate agreement for the same buyer and product combination. For example, if the buyer is purchasing a separate product listing, you would create a new private offer. If it's for the same product, you would amend an existing agreement to renew.
After an AWS Marketplace offer has been accepted by your buyer, you can take that same offer and amend it to renew an offer or update an existing agreement and track it in Tackle.
Note
If you plan to renew a partner private offer, you can create or amend an offer, depending on how your partner chooses to renew the existing agreement. For more information, see Renew partner private offers.
Before you begin
You can only amend an offer if the original offer exists in Tackle. If the offer does not exist or is associated in Tackle, there are two options:
Option 1
Create an agreement based offer (ABO) in the AWS Marketplace Management Portal (AMMP)🔗.
Associate the ABO in Tackle using both the Offer ID and Source Offer ID.
Option 2
Associate the original offer in Tackle.
Amend an AWS private offer
In Tackle, go to the left menu and click Offers.
Find the previously accepted offer with the agreement you want to use.
Note: You can only amend previously accepted private offers.Go to the offer and click the More options menu. The menu opens.
Click Amend. The offer form opens.
Edit or enter the offer information for each field, same as when creating a direct offer. Review or update the following items for your amended offer, and note the following changes:
Company name from the previously accepted agreement is copied over and auto-filled in the amended offer. For buyer details, edit as needed.
The product listing remains the same. This cannot change.
Pricing model must be set to Payment schedule. Billing term is not applicable when amending an offer. Instead, you’ll add a service end date.
Dimensions, including the API name and quantity for each, can remain the same, or you can update the quantity and add new dimensions.
For Service dates, both the previous service end date and new service end date appear. You can extend the existing end date or keep it the same.
Creating a payment schedule is required when amending an offer. All previous payments that have not been sent to the buyer are copied over from the original offer for you and must be added to your amended offer if you still want them to be sent to your buyer. Your amended offer will replace all existing payments from the previously accepted offer. Learn how to set up a payment schedule for your AWS offer.
For end-user licensing agreements (EULAs), select Legal terms for current agreement to keep the current agreements. You can also add more documents or replace the existing agreements.
Registration details can remain the same or you can edit as needed.
For Contract metadata, the Key and Value inputs are automatically filled in from the previous offer. You can modify the metadata as needed. The AWS account number must remain the same for amended offers.
In Offer details, you can keep the details the same or update the offer expiration date.
For Offer ID, leave the Offer ID field blank. The ID is automatically collected from the AWS Marketplace once the offer is created. The Source Offer ID is filled in from the previous offer.
Complete the rest of the form or edit as needed to finish amending your offer.
When you’re done, click Review offer. While the offer is in review, you can view the amended offer details and edit the information before it's approved and accepted.
Once the offer is ready, click Create amended offer.
After the buyer accepts the amended offer, you’ll receive a booking artifact email notification.
