Before you create or associate partner private offers, ensure you first enable CPPO tracking and complete the workflows. When you're ready, start creating and managing your offers.

Enable CPPO tracking for AWS partner offers

Youโ€™ll need to authorize the AWS Marketplace to enable channel partner private offer (CPPO) tracking before you create a partner offer or associate a partner offer in Tackle.

Enable CPPO tracking to create a partner offer

Enable CPPO tracking to associate a partner offer

  1. Go to the AWS Marketplace Management Portal๐Ÿ”— and sign in.

  2. Configure a Contract Metadata field on any AWS listing for CPPO. To configure:

    1. In Tackle, go to the left menu and click Listings.

    2. Click the listing you want to enable.

    3. Click the Advanced tab.

    4. Click Contract Metadata.

    5. Click Add field.

    6. Enter the display name for the field you want to add.

Note: The field you configure must be named CPPO Opportunity ID. The field and letters are case sensitive.

    7. Click Save changes to save the metadata.

Create AWS partner private offers

Create AWS channel partner private offers (CPPO) reseller authorizations๐Ÿ”— in Tackle. By creating a partner private offer, you can view, track, and book that offer once itโ€™s accepted by your end customer, all from Tackle.

Note

To renew a partner offer for the AWS Marketplace, you can create a new offer or amend an existing agreement, depending on how your partner chooses to renew. For more information, see Renew partner private offers for AWS.

Before you begin

Warning

For AWS CPPO, Tackle sometimes receives the notifications, which contain the offer ID, that the partner has created the private offer from your resale authorization after the end buyer has accepted the offer. When this happens, Tackle is unable to send a purchase notification with all of the expected details.

If you experience this, contact Tackle Support๐Ÿ”— to receive a corrected notification.

Create a partner resale private offer

  1. In Tackle, go to the left menu and click Offers.

  2. Click Create offer and select Partner offer.

Image shows offers page with dropdown to create a private offer.

    An offer form opens.
    โ€‹

  3. Complete all the required sections and fields. Add optional information as needed.

  4. When you're done, review and submit your offer.

How to use partner offer form sections

Like the direct offer form, the partner offer form requires that you enter specific information for your buyer and the partner offer. See each section to know the information you need and what you can skip for now to create your offer.

Company name

Enter the company name of your buyer for this offer. This is required information. The company name is used by Tackle to create the opportunity name for you in the selected cloud marketplace. For example, when creating an offer for the Amazon Marketplace Management Portal (AMMP), Tackle will use this information to create the opportunity in the AMMP.

This information is also added to all Tackle email notifications for the associated offer.

Product and pricing

Select your AWS product listing and then add pricing and contract details. This includes selecting a payment model and billing terms.

Note

For pricing, add the pricing you are offering your partner. Your partner will receive your set pricing and mark it up when extending an offer to their buyer.

End user licensing agreements (EULAs)

Upload an end-user license agreement (EULA for the buyer) and any other documents. All uploaded documents are visible to the buyer once the offer is created.
โ€‹

Select either the Standard contract for AWS Marketplace๐Ÿ”— or upload your own end-user licensing agreement:

  • You can upload up to five (5) documents.

  • They are consolidated into a single file.

  • Files must be formatted as TXT or PDF and no larger than 6 MB total.

Reseller agreement

Add a reseller agreement for your partner. You can select to upload your own custom contract or use the reseller contract from the AWS Marketplace (RCMP)๐Ÿ”—. Any documents uploaded here are visible to the reseller only. The buyer does not see the uploaded document.

Tip

Upload the approved quote between you and your reseller so it is attached to the reseller authorization in AWS Marketplace

Registration details

Complete any registration fields that are configured for the listing you selected. This information appears in the New Order email notification for this offer.

Tip

As a best practice, complete these registration fields now so your buyers donโ€™t need to. This saves your buyers time and ensures you receive your New Order notification as soon as possible.

Contract metadata

Enter contract metadata that is configured for the listing you selected. Use the Key / Value format in the form: Key is the name of the metadata and Value is the corresponding ID or numbers. You'll need:

  • AWS Account Number - This is your buyer's account number and is required to create the private offer in the AWS Marketplace Management Portal.

  • Partner AWS Account Number - This is your partner's account number and is required to authorize your partner to make the deal.

Tip

You can find a list of eligible CPPO Partners provided by AWS here๐Ÿ”—. You can include this information in the contract metadata section of the offer to assist in providing visibility into the offer.

Offer details

Enter the offer expiration date. This is the latest date that your buyer has to accept the private offer. Make sure to:

  • Select the Renewal checkbox if you are creating a private offer for an existing customer. This is different from amending an offer. You can select this checkbox if this is an offer for an existing customer outside of the marketplace that youโ€™re bringing to the marketplace for the first time.

  • Select the Enable zero dollar prices checkbox to enable zero dollar pricing.

  • Expiration date for the AWS Marketplace is the last date that the partner has to create a partner-to-buyer offer. AWS uses UTC time zone.โ€‹

Offer ID

Offer ID is not required for partner private offers. Once the offer is created in the selected cloud marketplace, Tackle will auto fill this for you.
โ€‹

Note: If you are amending an offer to create an agreement-based offer (ABO), select the Are you amending a previous offer? checkbox to see the Source offer ID field. This ID is required. Enter the offer ID for the last accepted offer for this agreement.

Notify users

Add the email address of any internal stakeholders that you want to receive email updates on the status of the offer.

Tip

As a best practice, youโ€™ll want to add the account executive (AE) and an internal revenue operations email distribution to keep the AE in the know and include the entire Rev Ops team.

Review and submit your partner offer

  1. Click Review offer. The offer details page opens.

  2. Review the offer details. To edit, go to the section you want to update and click the pencil icon.

  3. When youโ€™re ready to create the offer, click Create offer. Processing the offer can take a minute.

  4. After the offer is created in Tackle, click the Refresh icon. A View offer section opens. You can click the View offer link. This is optional and takes you to the AWS Marketplace Management Portal and resale opportunity details.

  5. Once your partner takes the opportunity details and creates an offer in the selected cloud marketplace, Tackle will take the Offer ID and populate it to your partner offer in Tackle. After itโ€™s accepted by the buyer, Tackle will send you email notifications, including bookable artifacts, for your records.

Note

The status bar at the top of the Tackle Offers page is not reflective of the statuses viewable for a partner offer. The following statuses are not applicable, as the offer is between your partner and the buyer and no email is sent from Tackle to the end buyer: Offer email has been sent, Offer email has been viewed, Offer has been viewed.

At any time while the offer is in progress, you can check the status to stay updated.

To cancel an AWS CPPO, see Cancel AWS partner private offers.

Associate partner private offers for AWS

You can associate an Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner private offer in Tackle when the ability to create and send an offer from Tackle is unavailable. This lets you track the offer through Tackle notifications for booking and fulfillment after the offer is accepted.
โ€‹

Before you begin

Before you can start associating partner private offers in Tackle, set up and enable the workflow. You'll need:

Process and book CPPOs in Tackle

After youโ€™ve enabled CPPO tracking in AWS, you can process and book CPPOs in Tackle. As a best practice, keep in mind contract metadata that may be useful such as the partner/reseller name and AWS account number.

To process and book a CPPO:

  1. In Tackle, create a partner private offer using the details from the CPPO opportunity in AWS.
    โ€‹
โ€‹Note: Itโ€™s important that you create the offer in Tackle immediately after you create the opportunity in AWS. This ensures that when the channel partner extends a private offer to the buyer, Tackle can attach (or auto-populate) the Offer ID to the offer in Tackle.
    โ€‹
If you create the offer in Tackle after your partner extends a private offer to the buyer, Tackle will not be able to auto-populate the Offer ID in Tackle. In this case, you'll need to copy the Offer ID in AWS and paste it into the Offer ID field in Tackle.
    โ€‹

  2. Once your partner extends the private offer to the buyer, you receive a Partner Offer Extended notification from Tackle. This confirms Tackle received the Offer ID for the partnerโ€™s private offer.

  3. After the buyer accepts, Tackle automatically moves the offer in Tackle to Accepted and you receive your new order notification and can book your CPPO deal.

Note

If you donโ€™t receive the Partner Offer Extended email notification from Tackle, but receive the CPPO Published email from AWS, go to Tackle and manually add the Offer ID to the Tackle offer in case the Offer ID was not automatically added to the corresponding Tackle offer. If the buyer accepts the offer before you receive the Partner Offer Extended email, please contact Tackle Support๐Ÿ”— to help you manually accept the offer. Be ready to provide support with the CPPO Opportunity ID, Offer ID for the partner offer, and the time you received the email from AWS.

Common use cases

Partner already used an opportunity to create a CPPO

When the partner has already used an opportunity to create a partner private offer, you can associate that partner offer in Tackle. To do this:

  1. In the Offer ID section, click the Associate to an existing marketplace offer to associate the offer.

  2. Go to the Contract Metadata section and enter the CPPO Opportunity ID. The CPPO Opportunity ID field only appears once you've enabled CPPO tracking to associate a partner offer.

  3. If the partner private offer has already been accepted, Tackle Support will manually close the offer card and resend the New Order email notification with the additional Tackle Offer metadata if needed.

Renew AWS partner offers

Tackle supports the renewal and expansion process through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) channel partner private offer (CPPO) program. As a cloud marketplace best practice, your partner can choose to renew or expand on a partner private offer through a new offer or by amending an existing agreement.

Note

If your partner chooses to renew by amending an existing agreement, you will need to provide the previous Offer ID for Tackle to send the correct bookable artifact once the buyer accepts their offer. If your partner chooses to renew with a new private offer instead, your partner will need to cancel the existing agreement with the buyer or create a future-dated agreement (FDA) that begins after the current agreement expires.

Renew a partner private offer with a new offer

Note

If you renew using a new private offer, your partner will need to cancel the existing agreement with the buyer OR create a future-dated agreement (FDA) that begins after the current agreement expires.

  1. Complete the form

    1. In Offer Details, select the Renewal checkbox.

    2. Enter information for the rest of the required fields and other details as needed.

  2. Create the offer.

  3. You receive a New Order email notification as a bookable artifact like you would with a new partner private offer.

Renew a partner private offer for an amended offer

Note

If you renew by amending an existing agreement, you will need to provide the previous Offer ID for Tackle to send the correct bookable artifact once the buyer accepts the offer.

  1. Complete the form.

    1. In Offer ID, select the Are you amending a previous offer? checkbox. Source Offer ID is also required.

    2. In Offer Details, select the Renewal checkbox.

    3. Enter information for the rest of the required fields and other details as needed.

  2. Create the offer.

  3. You receive an Amended Offer Order Modification email notification as a bookable artifact.

Cancel AWS partner private offers

You can cancel an AWS Marketplace channel partner private offer (CPPO) if you find that there was an error or need to update the offer.

Things to know before canceling your offer

You can only cancel an offer if the reseller has not extended the offer to the buyer. If they have extended the offer, the reseller must cancel the offer on their end first. Reach out to the reseller to confirm they have canceled the offer.

Cancel an AWS partner privater offer

Tackle currently does not support canceling CPPOs in Tackle. However, you can cancel using the AWS Marketplace Management Portal (AMMP) and their workflow to complete this action:

  1. Sign in to the AMMP๐Ÿ”—.

  2. Click the Partners tab.

  3. Select the offer you want to cancel.

  4. Click Deactivate.
โ€‹Note: You will not receive confirmation when you deactivate the offer. You can type Deactive to confirm.

Once the offer is canceled, you can create a new partner offer in Tackle.
